NEED URGENT HELP!!!

Postby AGW » Sat Apr 30, 2011 9:49 pm

I am wanting to get my father a rye whisky for his birthday. I have never tried a rye whisky before, that i why I am wanting to buy it for my dad so I can try some :P . Online i have heard a lot of good reviews about Sazerac Rye. However there are hundreds.
Could you recommend any descent whiskys at a reasonable price.

Cheers for the help

Best rye i had so far this year is High West Rendezvous Rye. The best ever for me, and a larger budget would be Thomas H Handy.

Also price level. Sazarac has put out some really good single barrel ryes.

Or just the basic Sazerac is good

Likewise for me. Exceptionally well crafted whiskey, it is.

As an alternative (and, of course, depending on local availability), I would also make mention of Wiser's Legacy, a whisky of great depth that showcases its rye content.

try the buffalo trace antique collection. they make some good stuff.
sazerac 18 is very nice. refined and classy. but if you want something with some oomph and kick, you can also try the thomas h handy.

These will probably be very difficult to get - nearly impossible outside the US. Around here they're on the shelves less than a month out of the year. . . They'd make a great gift, though.

Aside from that, I'd have to agree on the High West ryes. And the standard Sazerac is excellent, but perhaps less gift-y.
