Frustrating: Can't detect vanilla

As the title suggests, I find it so frustrating that I am unable to detect the VANILLA notes in whisky.

Most other notes I have no problems with. It's just the vanilla.

I think the problem is when I think of vanilla, ice cream and milkshake comes to mind and for the life of me I just cannot taste it in whisky.

Can you please recommend a whisky that has stronger vanilla notes than your average? Something that is so obvious that it is staring at me in the face. I want to taste it or go crazy trying Hehehe.
