Highland Park OB Single Cask Bottlings

Here is a relatively n00b question: What has your experience been like with Single Cask OBs of Highland Park, "specially selected and bottled for" various entities? I came across a 27 y/o HP single cask (see below) for what I believe is a good price of $140, that was bottled for a liquor store in DC. I am wondering about HP's track record regarding similar bottlings and if the quality is that of an independent (all over) or more consistent considering its branded HP.

I guess the question I really am asking, and I may already know the answer to, is drink or save for later?

There have been some great single cask HPs - Binnys and the OK Scotch Lovers for starters. I say drink em and save some for later!

The price sounds to me like a bargain JJR24 - if it were me, I'd buy it. (But I'm an HP fan).

Thanks for the advise. I actually already bought it, along with the PC in the picture, and I started to have a bit of buyer's remorse as I'm not typically an HP drinker. But I couldn't pass up what I was hoping was a good deal.

As an aside, I went by Barmy's (the store it was supposed to be made for) and it was on their shelf for $400!? I almost fell on the floor laughing.

I was at an HP tasting years ago that featured a few single casks that were all great. One of them was a 27 year old bottled for an Oklahoma club (cask #8294?) that remains my favorite whisky ever. I got hold of another 27 year old with a similar cask # that was an excellent whisky also. I hope you enjoy.

Darn it. I would have considered getting one to bring home as I was going to DC later this year. Let us know your thoughts.
