Strathblair - Speyside Single Cask Single Malt

Postby Manx » Wed Jan 25, 2012 9:43 pm

An old lady has given me an old 35cl bottle of whisky and I'm wondering whether its fit to drink (which was my first inclination) or even whether it might be worth something. The details on the label
Image
Distilled 1/5/78; Cask N0 11,712
Strathblair
Speysdie Single Cask Single Malt
16 Year Old
Distilled on Speyside
Specially bottled in Scotland for Arthur JA Bell, The Whisky Connoisseur
98 Proof, 56% Vol
Bottle No 367

Thanks in advance for any information given. I've trwled the internet to no avail.

And Happy Burns Night to everyone, I will be partaking in the Haggis and a wee dram later.

Arthur Bell is your key. He is/was apparently an independent bottler of some sort. He sometimes distributed his whiskies under his own "brand" names, rather than by the distillery names.

Here's another:

In terms of value, it does not worth much, since the name of the disillery is not mentioned and it is a 35 cl bottle.
But the content is definitely fit to drink. Enjoy it!

I shall drink it then. I was kind of hoping for that kind of response. Thanks for the replies.
