Macallan 18 vs Glenlivet XXV

Hi lads

I'm stuck on a choice between the Macallan 18yr vs the Glenlivet XXV yr. I wish I could afford to buy both.

The Glenlivet is 349.00 Cdn

The Macallan is 259.00 Cdn

Any thoughts are much appreciated.

First, which vintage 18.... Yes, I believe it does matter but I believe you are either looking at the 1993 or 1994. Second, do you prefer robust sherry or the more tropical fruits of Glenlivet. My personal preference is the Macallan 18 but the Glenlivet XXV has its own merits. Choose the flavor profile that fits your palate.

I prefer Glenlivet over Macallan, in general, but I like the Mac 18 a lot. And would definintely choose it over the XXV, given the price.

Simply as a matter of principle and practice (i.e. taste profile), I prefer a whisky aged 100% in ex-Sherry European oak for its entire maturation period over one finished in Oloroso wood... Therefore, it's Macallan 18 Year Old.

Its the 1993 Vintage. Its a toss up on the Sherry or Glenlivet taste. Depends on the mood i'm in.
