International retailers that ship to the US

Postby gimmeadram » Fri Mar 22, 2013 2:03 am

Which European/international whisky retailers ship to the United States, especially to New York? There are just so many whiskies that I cannot buy in the United States and with the laws and regulations re: shipping either inconsistent or changing constantly, I don't want to pay for a shipment and have it not arrive... For example, thewhiskybarrel.com claims that it delivers to the US (I know certain states would not allow this, but in NY we can), while others said they cannot. What gives? I know Japanese retailers definitely will not ship to the US. Thanks in advance.

The majority of Americans i know of use TWE

http://www.thewhiskyexchange.com/

Royal Mile

http://www.royalmilewhiskies.com/

and Master Of Malt

http://www.masterofmalt.com/

They should remove the VAT which will help with shipping costs. Email them for info.

Thanks bredman! Have anyone else ordered from these online sites and shipped to the US? How was your experience? Do they include display boxes?

There are only a dozen or so US states that allow spirits to be shipped in. Many overseas vendors don't want to deal with finding out which ones, particularly if it's liable to change now and then.

I haven't ordered from overseas yet, but I noticed one website not long ago, that mentioned an extra charge if you want them to include the manufacturer's packaging. I've ordered from a handful of US vendors, and one of them shipped with the box.

yea, I think Binnys ship with display boxes... It's annoying when they don't.

I work for Hedonism Wines here in the UK and we do ship to the states with display boxes. We have just under 1000 or so whiskies in shop so if you're interested please e-mail me at matthew@hedonism.co.uk. We ship we Mail Box UK who offer shipping per the Kilo.

I've ordered from all 3 of these shops for delivery to NY with no problems to date. You should note that things have gotten a bit stricter lately. Last I checked, The Whisky Exchange now adds Customs fees of 20 pounds or so to their orders, where before their orders were sent through in a less "official" manner (the customer was assumed to dutifully pay customs charges).
