Kirkland 18yo Speyside Sherry Finish

Postby bscepter » Thu May 16, 2013 8:40 pm

$32/bottle at my local costco. it's bottled by alexander murray & co.

it has a sort of balvenie feel to it for me. a bit of banana and caramel. but it's pretty smooth, as you'd expect an 18yo whisky to be. then again, i'm a whisky n00b, so what do i know...

does anyone know what it is? according to the AM site, they own or are partnered with the tullibardine distillery in perthshire. but i've heard tell that kirkland uses macallan as well.

either way, it's a steal at the price.

Alexander Murray does a lot of bottling for Costco/Kirkland and for Trader Joe's in the States. I have seen Bowmore, Macallan, Aberlour, and Tomatin of various ages. If you look up the thread on TJs you will find a little more info on AM as I recall. They have ranged quite a bit with some nearly undrinkable whiskies (Macallan 11 for TJs) to some very good Aberlours.
