Tormore 2005 8YO for HMP Peterhead

Postby bfiks » Mon Feb 10, 2014 2:29 am

Wondering if anyone has pricing information on a recent release from Tormore distilllary.
its an

8yo Speyside Single Malt, 2005 vintage in commemoration of 125 years of HMP Peterhead.... 200 bottle release labelled with HMP Peterhead 1888 - 2013 and botteld by Single Malts Ltd, Huntly. 700ml 46%alc/vol.

I believe they went on sale to prison wardens only on the closure of the prison, where they sold out at £60 each (only 200 bottles). I've been offered one for £80.

I cant find any info online info to suggest any worth of the item, other than Tormore traditionally only release 10 and 12yo's, with their only 8yo being a Dimensions range at 53%..

Any help or comments appreciated

It's only worth what anyone will pay for it and given that Tormore is a distillery that seldom receives plaudits and there is plenty of it about I doubt this bottle has any investment value. It may of course be a really good whisky but there's no way of knowing that without trying it.

Im guessing the hint is dont pay premium rates for it, as it isn't an investors bottle.
