Macallan 25 different labels and boxes

Postby Aldo Aldo » Sat May 17, 2014 6:07 am

I recently obtained a bottle of Macallan 25 year. I notice there are different boxes, different labels and no lot numbers or serial numbers on the bottle. I've attached a picture.
I would appreciate input from those that might have the knowledge to impart upon me the differences in labeling, boxing and info regarding mine.
Much appreciated,
Aldo

Your photo is not great so it is difficult to obtain any information from it, more photos of a higher standard would help. Where did you buy the whisky, was it from a reputable retailer or auction house? You could also try contacting Macallan to see if they could help.

I really don't have a doubt on the legitimacy of the whiskey as it does come from a reputable retailer. I'm talking about the difference in bottling labels and boxing. Some have a red ribbon around it, some have a box. None Ive seen have serial or lot info.

depending on color of the box it is from the release before the new blond wood boxes with the red ribbon and wax seal on the bottle.
until around 2004 there were wood boxes (first blond then red) then came the cardboard in various colors (brown and red) until around 2010

Hi Aldo,

I agree with what everyone said, in Australia we had the orange packaging for 2004. My bottle is of the same packaging and it was purchased in 25.

This was one of the 2 flagship products for the Macallan Fine Oak Series in Australia (the other being the 30 year old).

Both were removed from supply in mid 2008 due to aged stock shortage. In Australia your bottle would be valued between $800 and $1000 AUD.

Hope this helps

Pete
