Ardbeg (esp 10)
Balvenie (esp 15)

Lagavulin (but not so much lately)
Talisker (if not Glenrothes)

I have 11 open bottles right now (yeah, still wet behind the ears), and the only bottles I've had to replace are the Lagavulin 16 and the Laphroaig. That Clynelish 14yo bottle is fading fast though...

Not at all. I've been keeping an inventory since fairly early on, and now keep track of purchase date and place, price, opening date, and finishing date. The empties are still in the inventory, just sorted to the bottom. Just don't ask me for tasting notes!

I suspect I've had a lot more Alberta Premium and Elijah Craig than the others based on their relatively low cost.

At a guess, my list would include, in no particular order:

Claymore - the cheapest whisky when I was at college

Bushmills - available on flights between Belfast and London + drunk from a sense of local loyalty when I lived in Ireland + all my friends had it at home

Glenlivet 18 - freely available in British Midland Diamond Club lounges

Laphroaig - the malt I started drinking before I discovered the rest - hence I had several bottles

Who knows what the fifth would be. These days I get one off bottles and try something different when I've finished it.

I began my search for my favorite whisky some time ago. I stopped searching when I encountered Islay.

I buy whatever bottling is available, of the following:

Laphroiag, Lagavulin, Ardbeg

The other Islay's are a bit too mild for my taste. My wife's favorite is Bunnahabhain.

With that said, when I am out I will try a single malt that I have not experienced. Through that I have found that I enjoy The MacAllan. Dalmore cigar malt was also to my liking.

But nothing beats an Islay.

I guess i need to find a favorite single malt and stick with it. Wait a minute that would be boring. The list above is driven alot by the fact I live in the US (ussually) and Jameson and Johnnie Walker Black are ussually at every bar. The other two (greenspot) is absolutly fabulous and I've been drinking quite a bit of it lately and I've finished off a couple bottles of Evan Williams with my dad and have a 3rd started (Great Bourbon at a great price $26.00)
