Hi Robert,
I do have too a 50Y old Springbank, as a matter of fact I've all of them from 25 to 50. The reason that the 50Y is pale like white wine, was a big Surprise for Springbank too. The cask they used was 100Y old after bottling the 50Y and had been used before for Whisky, and they actully expected that should be some color left, but that wasn't the case. It's a third filling and that's the main reason why the color is very pale and a cask who is now 100Y old....doesn't give that much of color.
