MARKS ON NOSING GLASSES

Hi there,
is there anybody who can explain the marks on certain nosing glasses ( l / 2 / 3 )? I'm interested to know how to use them and what the marks signify in relation to the alcohol content.

The marks on the nosing glasses tell you the number of fluid ounces that you pour into your glass. If you want to dilute your (cask-strength) whisky these marks could help you not to add too much water.
