Opened a sealed bottle of OB Bowmore-10 purchased in California today. Cork has white fungus (like stringy lichen) on it and is wet, but crumbly. Whisky smells and tastes ... wrong. What can I do?
PS- online research suggests 'cork taint' though that seems to be a wine term.

Go back and ask for a replacement bottle or refund. This shouldn't happen and if the shop you bought it from cares about its customers, they shouldn't make a fuss about giving you a good bottle.
