Is it true that many of the Scotch whisky bottles offered at auction in recent years, as products distilled or blended and bottled in the late nineteenth or early twentieth centuries, and which fetch extremely high prices, are in fact forgeries?

Me - if its old its good - which is what those punters seem to think too. So if they don't know any better - and believe me my lovelies they don't - then why should I spoil their forks and knives?

I would say that wherever money (or otherwise measurable value) is involved, you have forgeries around. I'm pretty sure that in the same way as in art or antique business are troubled with forgeries so it is with old whiskies.
