Personally, I think the Craigellachie Hotel is vastly over-rate.

Agreed! I was too embarassed to say so, because all the whisky journalists say it's great. But maybe they don't have to pay ludicrous prices for seriously petit measures.
This whisky bar is crap. Avoid like the plague, and visit the bar across the road (less selection, but more friendly to your face and your wallet).

Or the mad bar down the road which might be called the Fiidichside Inn - i cannot remember for some reason:0

Why did you call the Fiddichside Inn the "mad: bar?
