During Prohibition my grandmother was a bootlegger in Chicago. According to family members, she bought huge glass bottles of distilled alcohol and mixed the alcohol with water and coloring to make 'whiskey'. Where would she have been able to get such large bottles of pre-distilled alcohol? She lived at 1043 Madison Street. The bottles may have been as large as 5 gallon drinking water bottles. Do you think my elderly family members are accurate in their recollections? Thanks for your help.
