Best whisky bar?

Having been fortunate enough to drink whisky in several bars, I recently came across the Drumchork Lodge Hotel.

Not only do they have 450 malts to choose from, the bar itself has just the right atmosphere and the people ( Frances and John ) are just great.

So far, this has to be the best whisky bar I have visited. Any other nominations?

Well, there is an excellent restaurant in Sweden in Stockholm that has at least around 200 malts ... for some reason the name has escaped my mind, darn. If you happen to get lost and find yourself in Finland in Oulu, not like though, go to St. Michael's Pub there are 100-200 different malts ... haven't counted them though. The atmosphere/place isn't the best one perhaps, if you like silent roomy cosy place (it is quite noisy and small pub), but when you decide to move from whiskies to beer, you can have there Caffrey's ale and stout from the tap.

No rOb - no joke - they really do have 450 malts.

Forgot to say location is Wester Ross on the North West coast of Scotland.

And their ' hot ' smoked salmon is to die for!

The Rockwell Bar in the Trafalfgar Hotel in London is great if you go for bourbon - over 100 bourbons and ryes. But by God it's pricey. The sainted Milroys whisky shop in Soho has (or at least had last time I was in there - far too long ago, shame on me) a bar in the shop, so you can taste before you buy (or after, or during...)

When visiting downtown Minneapolis (Minnesota) I like to go to "The Local." They have over a hundred malts, a great Irish selection (by US standards) and reasonable prices.

Akkurat in Stockholm is probably the restaurant Ize was talking about. The number of malts is +350 and the have about 200 beers to choose from.

Has anyone tried M's in the Grassmarket in Edinburgh yet.If you love whisky and happen to be in Auld Reekie then it is a must.500+ malts can't be wrong.The bar staff are wonderful and will happily chat all day.There is something to suit all pockets in the list book which is attractively bound in wood.All measures are a generous 35ml.It is also a seafood restaurant and has the best toilets I have seen in any eaterie.Very whisky and fish.

I hate to spoil the fun but the best whisky bar
is most likely "Speyside Way".
Suzuki-san has well over 1000 bottles in the bar and an unknown number in storage.
The only problem for most of you is of course that it is located in Tokyo, Japan (Jiyugaoka).

Been a day out in AMsterdam a week or so back, and for the first time visitted whisky bar The Still.

I found a very small and comfortable bar, in the middle of the old city centre of Amsterdam, full of that Scottish atmosphere.

Fully recommended if you happen to be in Amsterdam for something =o)

The Engelenburg, Brummen, The Netherlands.
At the Engelenburg, they have a nice selection of rare vintages and very rare malts, and ofcourse the "usual" stuff so to speak.

Me? I had an Aberlour 10 yo as a Sunday nightcap.

I had a Lagavulun in a nearby pub (in Dublin) last week. I had not had one in a long time and wondered had my taste changed since. I can still taste it and all my ailments have been cured. Not my favourate by a long stretch, but very interesting and enjoyable.

I had an Aberlour 11 Aberdeen.

After some work at 2 at night.

I´m still not shure if I like it. Not a lot of priate bottlings around of Aberlour and maybe they sold this cask off because it´s not as good as the "normal" cask?

I will have an Aberlour 12 DoubleCask tonight

Hi there,

My digestive dram was a Glenturret 80/97 from the Scotch Malt Whisky Society. Still a beautiful Whisky although the bottle is opened for a long time. Before that my aperitif was a crazy good TEN of Ardbeg. My God, long live Scotland with such an array of fine Whiskies!! What would we drink if Whisky didn't exist?

Either Auchentoshan Three Wood (11Y), Imperial Calvados Finish (12Y), Macallan (12Y) or a Craggenmore(12Y)... can't remember anymore...it was a very "communicative" evening.

yesterday i had a little private tasting, started with Connemara(NAS),Bruichladdich 10 (old white label),Bruichladdich 10(new unchill-filtered version),Littlemill 8,Springbank CV,Connoisseurs Choice Ardbeg 11(1990),and ended with a Ledaig 15.All in all a very enjoyable afternoon.

On Sunday night I made 2 vattings with The Balvenie DoubleWood as the base (50-66%b.v.).

Version 1 -- with Springbank 'new' 10yo OB
Version 2 -- with 24yo Macallan OMC

Both were very, very tasty!

Just sitting after a hard day with the most beautiful little lady, no not the wife she's in bed I am sitting with a glass of G&Ms bottling of cask strength Mortlach, just bottled in June this year 63.8% of beauty. It is rich in colour, deep in taste with strong sherry overtures and a little spice at the end.

just left this site and decided it was a real hard day, so I am now sitting with a lovely aberlour abunagh, a range of 10 - 15 year old Aberlours matured in dry sherry casks and then mixed together in sweet Spanish sherry casks and bottled at cask strength. The taste is so good and rich you want to chew it, then the world of whisky explodes as the fats, proteins and resins from the wooden casks solidify in your mouth WOW! I will sleep well tonight.

Last Friday, I had an after work glass of Macallan 15 in a quiet bar with a red pool table and fancy furniture uptown New Orleans. A great rolling malt! (PS: everyone else was drinking light beer).
