Does Johnnie Walker Grey exist?

I have heard this mentioned a few times on this forumn and others but can't find information about it or to prove its existance. Can anyone confirm if it does indeed exist or if it is just a myth? I am only new to the world of scotch being only 20. So far my 'collection' consists of JW Black, JW Gold, Dimple 15, Glenfiddich 12, Black Douglas Black label and a JW red for when i feel the need for a long drink. Looking to try some more single malts now that i have a bit of a feel for blended. Any recomendations for a novice?

Don't know about the Grey, but jump in and get a bottle Lagavulin 16 and enjoy all the peaty flavor that can be had in a bottle of scotch. I too started with JW and still enjoy them from time to time.... but the once I tried some drams from distilleries on the island of Islay I was hooked.

Caol Ila would be a good one if you like the JW. Lagavulin is also excellent.

If you like JW Gold you'll like most things from Islay (those are the scotches w/the peaty/smoky flavor for the most part). personally, my favorites are Laphroaig and Ardbeg.

I've just started my girlfriend on Auchentoshan 10 as i find its light if that makes sense, easy to drink. Give it a go.

Was the reported introduction of Johnnie Walker Grey an April Fool story a few years back?

Anyway, I don't think it exists. It doesn't sound like a name that might inspire the marketing bods - only one step up from Johnnie Walker Beige!

But what do I know - they'll probably both be on the market by the end of the year.

You may be thinking of the exclusive but very rare Johnny Walker Mauve. It comes in a solid white gold bottle embedded with diamonds and rubies. There were only 38 produced and they are limited to duty free shops in Sri Lanka. There may actually be whisky in the bottle, but no one is sure because no one has ever opened one.

No such thing as Johnnie Walker Grey according to their website.
Out of them all, JW Gold is my favourite.
That's why I own the facebook group Johnnie Walker Gold Label.

I have heard of JW grey but cannot remember what distinguished it from all the others. In my mind, the JW range is really red, black and blue - the others are all Johnnie Come Latelies.

Congrats on making it to the "real mans" realm of spirits. That first response about the Islay really seperates the men from the boys. Johnny's OK and you have a cool fresh start but do explore these. It really takes you to a whole new level that only certain people can appriciate. I literally have made at least ten converts to the Scotch realm once I introduced them to the Lag 16 and a nice cuban cigar!

That's true...boys spend an awful lot of time and energy trying to prove what men they are.

I have a very vague recollection of JW Grey being something available in some obscure market somewhere. I wish I could be more helpful than that.

I failed to turn up any real references to the JW Grey but I did find a reference to JW mauve - sold in very limited numbers in a jewel encrusted bottle of which the Roman Emperor might approve.

I don't think so.... My (admittedly completely uninformed) guess is that it was a limited release, possibly for one of the Asian duty-free markets. But don't quote me.
