That's the sort of thing you should ask our resident whisky tout - it's scum who hoover up bottlings just for getting instant profit on ebay who spoil it for everyone.

Doh...I need to get my hands on a bottle, but us Yankees are damned from ordering online.

Does anyone know if we can order and send it to someone in the UK, possibly someone who has already ordered one already? I'll ask Ardbeg!

Your difficulty is that they are limiting orders to one per Ardbeg committee member. The chances are that if you find someone who is able to buy a bottle, they will want it for themselves.

You need to thank the people who bought up the last Committee bottle just to put it on ebay for five times the price the next week.

As I say, ask our resident whisky tout what he thinks about your predicament.

I think he'd be very happy to be honest!

If you've read any of my posts you know how I feel about Ebay and touts. But with Ardbeg not shipping to Canada and the States whisky touts maybe the only way our friends over there can obtain a bottle!

Just done mine, but didn't change the postage option.

I do hope the bottles comes complete with two diesel volve penta engines to navigate the straigths, at the change of tide its probably the scariest place i've been.

The odd thing is the Whirlpool really is nowhere near Islay, ah well.

If only someone could name a whisky that I could pronounce without embarrassing myself!

To be honest I thought this bottling was another April's fool!

And Corryvreckan is phonetic.

Interestingly, we had a discussion about the name "Corryvreckan" on the peatfreak site a couple of weeks ago. Coincidence or what?

Sounds like someone had some inside information there!

Bet Johnathan Ross would have some trouble with Red Label tho :D

Just ordered one too.

Cannot get my head around why we get so excited about these OB's when there are so many older single cask IB's around that are rarer and often better both in taste and value terms.

It does look lovely though :)

Bamber I think we get so excited because it is an official bottling. And I love the little pointy bit on the bottom rim of the bottle. It really looks the business. :)

I ordered my bottle last night.

I find it very interesting Ardbeg have used the Corryvreckan as their theme for the bottle. The label is very pretty.

Who is the Forum's (to quote another) "resident whisky tout" ?

I assume not me, given that I've made a modest profit from the sale of a single bottle.

With the whirly video on the site now, saying "Chapter two and Chapter three coming soon" I wonder if we have a few more bottles to look forward to? Will they be the Renaissance and the new Ten, or 2 others continuing the whirly series???

No Jonathan , the video is only to do with the Corryvreckan bottling Story (the journey of Prince Breacan ).

Just tried to order two bottles without a problem. Didn't finish the cc payment, but it seems to be no problem ordering more than one up to the point of paying. The shipping cost double which is not very nice.

I think that each purchase is scrutinized individually. And if you go for the double purchase they chuck your request in the bin. :o

Dave the postie has been, and I have the Corry whirly book. It's a tale of a Horny young man. Evidently. And its got a lock of the plaited hair of the daughter of The Lord of the Isles attached to it.

What gets me thinking. Ardbeg know that a Committee bottling always sells out pretty quickly.

So why go to all this fuss to produce a really nicely produced little book. Plus the postage costs to send this to committee members all around the world. Even to the US and then tell them that they can't have it. All for one bottle per person. Am I missing something. Will there suddenly be found another load of casks and we can all have another bottle.

Why? :o

From the book I get the idea this will be a more widely available expression in the future. Also, there's a LOT more than 5000 people they've send this promotion package to. So this serves mainly to get the name out there.

And selling 5000 bottles at retail price makes quite some profit in a very short time.

Les, I was wondering much the same thing?

Why write to those poor committee members across the pond just teasing them with it, whilst all of us over here just hoover it up?

I think it is part of the build up to a progressively more costly set.

i.e.

bottle 1 - released at £45 loadsa hype
bottle 2 - released at £65 even more hype
bottle 3 - released at £+++++ full set premium!

they keep saying there that this is part of a journey!

maybe i'm wrong though!

Regarding the brand marketing discussed:

The marketing campaign seems quite planned...
If you are interested, have a look at copywriter Liz Holt webpage, were she describes the Ardbeg campaign :

http://www.lizholt.co.uk/ardbeg_index.html

I am at least falling for it.
(Of course the content is the most important, but anyway)

Of all members in the Ardbeg committee, I think only a part is active and ordering bottles. I know several that signed up a few years ago, but are not that active anymore. They will not order the bottle this time.

I like the familiarity of the Committee idea and I like getting a letter home. I have also always felt welcome when visiting the distillery. The committe is a good thing I think.
