Just finished reading Charles Maclean in paperback and wondered about this quote on page 270: 'Loch Fyne Whiskies was founded in the picturesque and historic town of Inveraray in 1992 by Richard Joynson, who until then had been a fish.' A FISH???
I think the word 'farmer' is missing from the end of the sentence, but as Messers Mclean and Joynson are friends he may know something that the rest of us don't!
But it is a fantastic book and one that I would recommend to anybody with an interest in whisky that goes beyond drinking it.
I read a comment by Richard in his Scotch Whisky Review or somewhere on the LFW website. It caused great hilarity around LFW and I believe it was a typo and was meant to read farmer.
I was in a bookstore today and saw both hardcover and paperback editions. The estimable Mr Joynson was described as a former fish in each. When I'm in LFW in October, I will be sure to look for gills.
