Just finished this book:
The Island Whisky Trail - an illustrated guide to the Hebredian distilleries.
Author: Neil Wilson - ISBN 1903238498
(An update of the 1984 “Scotch and Water”)
The author has sailed the Classic Malts Cruise and uses this context for telling the history of the Island Distilleries. (Islay, Jura, Mull, Skye + Oban). Apart from the sections on distilleries, there is also a chapter covering the making of whisky with some very illustrative drawings of the process.
This book obviously covers much of the same ground as “Peat, Smoke and Spirit” – but is not nearly as detailed. A plus is the many illustrations and photos found throughout the book.
An enjoyable book for all with an interest in the island distilleries – recommended.
Cheers
Jan
