The Distillation of Highland Malt Whisky - Birnie

Postby Ian Buxton » Fri Aug 15, 2008 6:33 pm

Does anyone know this little book?

It was originally privately printed in 1937 and then reprinted in 1963 with a second edition in June 1964.
I have just found a copy of that last edition, from a source in the USA.
It's a very nice, simple booklet explaining distillation just before the first big wave of modernisation and mechanisation. No illustrations and only 30 pages in a simple orange paper cover.

I'd love to find a copy of the 1937 first printing. Anyone got one they want to swap or sell?
Pretty please!

Could do, I guess.
It's not that exciting actually but I'll look into it.

I need to get Truths About Whisky out (if you ordered this you should have received an email from me on Friday with a status report - if you have ordered/paid and didn't receive this email, send PM). Then I really want to do Nettleton and then I have 3 of Alfred Barnard's original pamphlets to publish.

But I'll get a cost for the Birnie pamphlet if there's much interest....

We're building an "advance list" (no obligation) for Nettleton now and then we can see the level of interest. Everyone on that list will get the chance of 'Founder Subscriber' status, with discount and name printed in book.
Email or PM me if you're interested. I need your real name and email address.
