A not-so-subtle hint from one whisky great to another has paid dividends – thanks to Whisky Magazine.
In Issue 31 we ran a feature about the dream whiskies of a selection of industry figures. And Bruichladdich’s production director Jim McEwan chose a 1948 Macallan – the year of his birth. But, he said, the £2,000 price tag put it beyond him.
“Macallan is such a fantastic whisky, and to try something that was made in my birth year would be amazing. I’m just hoping that if Bob Dalgarno reads this article, he might be tempted to fill me a sample.”
He did and he was.
