If you aspire to possessing the finely tuned palate of our revered tasters Michael and Dave then a new concept available on the web may be a good place to start.
A new website, http://www.whiskytutor.com has tutorials to download that will take you through the smells and tastes of six malts available worldwide to buy by the bottle or, for a smaller outlay, to order from all good hotel bars.
The idea is the brainchild of Gordon Muir (pictured) whose career in whisky spans two decades. He aims to help those who love drinking whisky but find it difficult to describe what they can taste. The tutorials take you through the smells, tastes and textures of the whiskies using their differences and similarities to build your whisky vocabulary as you go.
At a cost of just £2 for each download Gordon says “It’s £2 that won’t change your life but will make the malt whisky drinking part of it much more fun.”
