Family-owned distiller William Grant & Sons Ltd. has announced the appointment of Ludovic Ducrocq as the first ever global ambassador for Grant's Blended Scotch Whisky.
Ludo's travels will take him to locations as diverse as the Americas, Russia, China and Southern Europe as well as his native France, as he shares the incredible Grant's product quality and story with a new generation of whisky drinkers. He will be responsible for sharing his expertise among trade and consumers and using his in-depth whisky knowledge and genuine connoisseurship to build real passion for the award-winning range of Grant's blended Scotch whiskies.
Part of the William Grant's family for almost ten years, Ludo has fostered a deep understanding of the complexities and century-old skills needed for malt whisky production and has gained profound insight into the history, passion and commitment of the William Grant family. Starting his career in the whisky industry in 2000 as a guide at the distiller's Dufftown Distillery in Speyside it was in 2002, while working as a visitor centre team leader that Ludo was invited to join the distillery's nosing and new product development tasting panels. Today he is still an active member. Charged with recruiting, training and mentoring a team of ambassadors, Ludo's appointment follows last year's successful brand re-launch, which re-packaged the 110 year old blend and kicked off a £35 million investment package designed to take Grant's to podium position amongst Scotch whiskies.
As well as sharing his own in-depth whisky knowledge, Ludo's adventures will see him experiencing how Grant's, the world's most popular family-owned blended Scotch, is enjoyed around the globe. From Grant's and green tea in China to the traditional 'half and half' in Glasgow he'll be investigating how and where local culture and customs influence how people drink blended whisky.
"I can't wait to share my enthusiasm Grant's. There is such a richness of heritage and five generations of expertise contained in this exceptional Scotch whisky- it's a story that deserves to be told," says Ludo.
