Bowmore distillery on Islay has been judged one of Britain’s greenest companies at The Green Apple Environment Awards, an annual international campaign to recognise, reward and promote environmental best practice.
As a major employer on the island, Morrison Bowmore was commended for its policy of improving the local environment, using heat from the whisky production process to provide free energy for the local swimming pool and installing new boilers to reduce fuel and transport needs.
