New Ardbeg Rollercoaster

Postby Rob Allanson » Fri Feb 12, 2010 11:52 am

Take a ride on the rollercoaster.

The new Ardbeg is just round the corner. On February 15th Ardbeg Rollercoaster will be made available through the Ardbeg website (http://www.ardbeg.com).

It is a vatting of 10 casks, one from each year between 1997 and 2006, put together to celebrate the 10th anniversary of the Ardbeg Committee. It is bottled at 57.3% and it will cost £50.

I have a sample but not had chance to taste it properly, but from the desk it is huge.

Nose: coal tar, tobacco, cream toffee.
Palate: Smooth as you like and peaty. The smoke keeps building through the sweetness.
Finish: Just keeps going with peat and spices.
Comment: A great balance of peat and sweetness, wonderfully velvety and smooth.

Rob,
It looks like you've had a pretty good go at tasting it already.

I got to buy two after long hours and a very slow Ardbeg site.

Hope their sysadmins weren't trying to tasting notes at the same time as getting the server up... must have a been a long day for someone.

Been a while since I got one of the Ardbeg committee bottles, and the reviews I've seen seem generally pretty favourable. 2 for me :)

Anyone know how long they usually take to ship out?
