Pot still owner Ken Storrie RIP

Postby Rob Allanson » Tue Nov 09, 2010 5:16 pm

Received news that Ken Storrie, the wonderful owner of the multi award winning Glasgow pub the Pot Still, has passed away.
Very sad news and our thoughts and sympathies go out to his family and the staff.

I am absolutely gutted at this news.

I was in the Pot on Monday night when one of my mates from my fishing club came in.

Ken had kindly purchased a trophy for our club in memory of our president who passed away just over a year ago. That was the kind of guy he was.

Sadly and sorely missed.

There's a special farewell to Ken at the Pot Still tomorrow night (Sat Dec 11). On Monday the landlords will install a new manager. Three days after his death - and before his funeral - Ken's family were told to be out of the pub by this weekend.

Disgraceful indeed, reminds me of Ebenezer Scrooge.

Iona, the leased estate of Stefan King's G1 Group are the repugnant cowards behind this. This goes beyond business and is just vindictive, leaving a widow to support two children and a grandchild with no income stream, just before christmas. The tenancy has now passed to two partners from the marketing world, who are bringing in Diageo to merchandise the gantry, and installing a wine rack. Ken would be spinning in his grave. Hope your next one's a hedgehog Stefan.

I'm in total agreement with you, Nick. Do these people think that we're foolish enough even to follow these links? We seem to get hit by this rubbish every weekend and then someone in the office has to spend a large amount of time deleting it, but I suppose that is the price we pay for being an open forum.

Cheers John
