Organisers of the fifth World Expo held in San Fransisco say they are delighted with attendance figures that topped 3,000.
The event was held in the downtown San Francisco Hilton having outgrown its previous venue. Visitors were treated to a pipe and drum band, great food and a plethora of whisky exhibitors. Amongst others, you could meet Heaven Hill’s Parker Beam, Dave Pickerell from Maker’s Mark, Julian Van Winkle, Bruichladdich’s Jim McEwan and John Glaser from Compass Box. Available to taste was a selection of whiskies from William Grant & Sons, Jack Daniel’s, Buffalo Trace, The Macallan, Highland Park, The Famous Grouse, Gordon & MacPhail, Cooley, Anchor Distilling, Classic Malts, Johnnie Walker, The Dalmore and Jim Beam’s small batch bourbons. In addition, there was a second tasting hall featuring other spirits including great cognacs, armagnacs and Blackwood Distillers vodka and gin. And, as if that wasn’t enough, there was a full programme of seminars including Martine Nouet matching distilled spirits with Sharffen Berger chocolates and a concert by Norma Munro.
Mr Willard Folsom, a Whisky Magazine subscriber, was fortunate enough to win the Whisky Magazine prize draw and take home with him a Macallan 1841 Replica worth $200.
