A new range of exclusive cask strength whiskies have gone on sale for the first time at four popular distilleries – The Glenlivet, Strathisla, Aberlour and Glen Grant following the re-opening of their visitor centres for the new summer season.
The Glenlivet 16 year old, Strathisla 15 year old, Longmorn 17 year old and Glen Grant 14 year old, which have been taken straight from the cask, will only be available at the aforementioned distillery centres. Aimed at whisky connoisseurs yet affordably priced these special speyside malts have been bottled in small quantities and prices range from £28-£32.

Try the Scotch Malt Whisky Society in Florida, they usually have a single cask Glenlivet on their bottling list. Since they use a code The Glenlivet is listed as distillery #2, for example 2.36 is distillery #2 (The Glenlivet) and the 36th cask from that distillery. The web address is http://www.smwsa.com and the current bottling list is on the site.

If you live in London, England then you have a branch of the Scotch Malt Whisky Society in town. Check out http://www.smws.com

They have more cask strength whisky than you can drink.

Hi ikendal

To get your fingers on one of these distillery casks trength you have to go to a Chivas-destillery with a visitor-centre: Aberlour, Glenlivet, Strathisla or Glen Grant.

The idea is that these are the only places they will be made available - but I recon as time goes by they will pop up in specialist shop throughout the UK.

Yes, you're correct about the availabilty of those particular bottlings being limited to the distilleries, I went off the thread a bit so to speak.
