Get your diary out and make sure you are free to attend at least one of the great events happening this summer.

Whisky Live comes to Glasgow

Glasgow becomes host to Scotland’s first Whisky Live on Friday 10th and Saturday 11th September 2004. Bringing a celebration of Scotch whisky back to it’s heartland, Whisky Live will be held in the glorious George Square under splendid marquees and will appeal to both the enthusiast and novice alike.
Whisky Live Glasgow will have three sections: Whisky Live, offering the chance to sample the greatest Scotch whiskies in the world whilst mingling with the producers and distillers all under one roof; The Whisky Experience, an education and entertainment zone, filled with themed areas introducing the history of whisky, food demonstration, the taste tunnel, exploring Scotland’s whisky regions and much more; and a live music area, on site retailing and great Scottish food, bringing the world of whisky to life in one of Scotland’s most prestigious and public spaces.
From 2-8pm on Friday and 12-6pm on Saturday, there will be plenty of time to enjoy masterclasses, visit local distilleries and then stay on to take a trip to some of the far flung whisky regions of Scotland. Book now at http://www.whiskylive.com or call +44 (0)1603 633 808. Masterclass tickets will be available from August 1st.

Whisky Live Paris

The first ever Whisky Live Paris will open its doors to all lovers of uisge beatha this September at the Palais Brongniart.
Organised in partnership with La Maison du Whisky, who launched the French version of Whisky Magazine in January 2004, Whisky Live Paris will host the most prestigious distilleries of Scotland, Ireland, The United States, Japan and France over two exceptional days.
The Palais Brongniart, the old French Stock Market, is an impressive building situated in the very heart of Paris, Place de la Bourse (2nd district).
Twelve seminars (which will take between 20 and 40 people) and four conferences will take place over the course of the Sunday afternoon as well as all the tasting sessions which will be held on the various stands for amateurs to deepen their knowledge of whisky. A tasting entitled ‘Alliance Whisky-Cigar’ will take place at the end of the day.
Sunday 12th September 12– 7pm: Public Open Day
Monday 13th September 11am–7pm: Professional Day
Tickets can be purchased from http://www.whisky.fr

Kentucky Bourbon Festival

Now in its 13th year, the annual festival in the bourbon capital, Bardstown takes place this year from the 15th to the 19th September. The five days will be packed with lots of bourbon, of course, but also delicious food and great entertainment for all ages.
Highlights will include the Balloon Glow where hot air balloons light up their canopies in an amazing display of colours, a 1920s themed evening, a bourbon, jazz and cigar evening and the gala dinner.
