Glenfiddich has become the first single malt to create a private vintage bottling for Playboy.
Just 248 bottles from cask 10245 laid down in 1974 will be available priced at 358 euros. However the whisky is only available to German readers of the magazine. A pairing which makes a certain amount of sense; the German edition of Playboy is the most popular men’s magazine and Glenfiddich is the country’s best selling malt.
A second private vintage has also been chosen to celebrate the 40th anniversary of the Republic of Singapore’s birth as a nation. Cask 10836, the last remaining cask from 1965 has been described as unusually vibrant for a single malt of this age, retaining the distillery character despite its long years in a sherry cask.
Rare whisky manager Jens Throlstrup said: “I fear that it will also be highly collectable. Which is a shame, because the whisky is utterly stunning, a worthy celebration for Singapore’s anniversary.”
