New dedicated whisky glass

CelticMalts has launched its own distilled spirits glass. The blown glass has been carefully designed with an elongated neck to concentrate aromas perfectly and a curved lip to bring the spirit right to the tongue’s sweet receptors.

The glass will be available worldwide, priced at around $15.99 per pair.

Looks like a bigger version of the Michael Jackson glass. Has anyone tried it yet?

Yes, I have. In comparison with the Glencairn glass, it focusses the nose much better IMHO.

I don't like it for the same reason I don't like the Riedel glass...I dislike the curved out lip.

I also don't like the stubby stem which doesn't really do anything.
IMHO the Glencairn glass is still the best.

You certainly get a different palate experience with an out-turned lip like the Riedels. I haven't tried this new glass, obviously, but I bet it will accentuate sweetness in a similar way which is good for some whiskies but not all of them.

Like the Andrews Park tulip this new glass may concentrate the nose well but for some cask strength whiskies without water it may overdo it. Time will tell, if I ever get a chance to try some of these.

IMHO the Glencairn glass is still the best.

I intended to buy a pair when I went to the WOW Expo in San Francisco last month, but was also a bit disappointed with the stem. What also led me to not buy it was its small base. It seems a bit top heavy, and I'd be afraid to spill whatever whisky I decide to pour into it.
