I'm not sure they'd let us serve the hand-rolled "cigars" with the whisky. We could call it "View a SKU". We could get Silent Bob as the host.

Munich hosts an independent festival, so does Victoria and many other places.

Find a venue, contact your local importers / dealers and also the distilleries themselves to see how many would be interested in committing to the event.
You will need a suitable location and then lots of advertising, with the event being planned about a year in advance.

As for the business plan:
Work out how much you need to charge for each stand, plus entry fees against the cost of advertising and the event itself.

I am sure people like Lawrence would be able to offer further sensible advice.

From the home page, it shows LA in October, 2008. However, there are no details, and clicking on the LA link just shows a reference to the previous show in Barcelona.

Oh well, I'm sure there will be more details soon.

Uh, uh, how about a Leikanger Live Whisky Fest??? I could help organize and plan, and guarantee most of the 2000 person population would be there!! Plus many others in the surrounding area. Heck, do it in summer and get a mess of tourists to visit too!!

I see that WhiskyFest in SF is scheduled for Friday, October 10. Whisky Live is scheduled for Los Angeles, also in October although the exact date has not yet been set.

Can anyone tell me what the differences are between these two events?

I don't know anything about Whisky Live, but WhiskyFest is only held three times a year in New York, Chicago and San Francisco. It is run by Malt Advocate Magazine whereas Whisky Life looks like it is run by Whisky Magazine.

The first San Francisco Whisky Fest was last year and I had a total blast. FWIW

I have to agree that the Wfest SF was a huge and very good event. Too many beverages for the amount of time.

You'd think that they would say on the site that the LA show was cancelled, but perhaps the date didn't work, and they are trying to find another date before changing the guesstimated date on the site.

It hasn't been forgotten and will be coming to LA, but probably next year now.
