JTS Brown query

Hi,

I recently bought a bottle of JTS Brown as a present for my uncle....but noticed it does not have a barcode on it. Is this normal, or have I somehow managed to get my hands on an old bottle?

Not being an expert on whiskey/bourbon, I have no idea myself...so would appreciate if someone might know!

Here's the general way to date a bottle (from the US):

No Government Warning on the label - older than 1990
Tax Stamp (red or green) - older than 1985
Non metric volume - older than 1979
"Federal Law Prohibits Sale or Reuse of this Bottle" embossed in the glass - older than 1964

Barcodes are hit or miss. Use started in the 70's but they were adopted by different companies at different times.

There's definitely no government warning! No Tax Stamp either....so I'm guessing between 1985 & 1990.


There is something printed on the glass at the bottom of the bottle though...42 24 348 05 2111! Any ideas?

Sometimes one of the numbers signifies the date the bottle was made, but often not.
