Yes Gordon, I'm coming - it looks too good an event to miss :D

Still to think about travel arrangements but it looks as though I could do it by train and return the same day or I might crash somewhere and travel home on the Sunday.

That would be 3 trains wouldn't it John? You would be sober by the time you got home and that's no good.

Looks like it Willie. Train to Glasgow, then to Edinburgh and then to Newcastle. From what I can see it looks like a 4 hour journey

Does the Train from Stranraer to Newcastle go through Kilmarnock ?
Only bad thing is it doesn't run that often and probably takes as long to get here !

Thanks for that Gordon.

The online timetable only suggested the route via Edinburgh but I might still do the Edinburgh route anyway if others are going to be travelling on the same route.

Yeah, I will for sure and if you've had enough of trains by the time we get to Edinburgh I wouldn't think that'd be a problem.

Do we know what the format will be? Will we have to obtain some form of tokens to exchange for whisky like happens at WhiskyLive? If so how are they obtained and how much are they?

Along the lines of the Whisky Fringe rather than Whisky Live , The same as the Festival he's organised in York for the past 6 years (Never been so ....) .
Eddies never mentioned "Tokens" (Wash your mouth out i can hear him say....) , There will be tables with Exhibitors letting you sample their wares , Glencairn Glasses and 6 Masterclasses , Soft Drinks and Sarnies ( or some type of food...) .

Masterclasses

There will be six masterclasses on the day, all conducted by some of the best in the business. To book your places on one or more of these fantastic mini-events, in the first instance you should book your general entry ticket through the website. Then you need to email us at info(at)thewhiskylounge.com (Replace (at) with @) with your masterclass requirements and a phone number that we can easily contact you on. We will then get in touch with you to confirm whether we have places still on your specified classes and organise payment for those. Each class is £5 per person in addition to the general entry ticket.
The sessions are as follows...

11.30-12.45 The Balvenie
with UK Balvenie Brand Ambassador, Dr. Andy Forrester

11.30-12.45 Buffalo Trace
with Buffalo Trace Global Ambassador, Roy Evans

1.30-2.45 BenRiach
with UK BenRiach Ambassador, Alistair Walker

1.30-2.45 Cooley
with UK Cooley Ambassador, Stephen Teeling

3.30-4.45 Ardbeg
with Global Ardbeg Evangelist, Davinia Small

3.30-4.45 Diageo
with UK Reserve Brands Ambassador, Colin Dunn

Further info on these classes will be added soon. Please ensure you do not specify sessions that are running at the same time!

Most willbe pleased to know there are no tokens so its possible to drink as much as you like. I know there were some very very drunk people at York.

I can't compare to Whisky Live as i've never been. But i think York will be a lot smaller than the Newcastle one judgeing by the number of exhibitors already.

Booked the Ardbeg Class so far, not sure whether to go for any more as i just don't think i'll be able to put all that whisky somewhere - lightweight. But really like the sound of Cooley and Buffalo Trace.

Whose going so far?

Gordon,
Willie
Kyorke
John McGill
Chris (Dog)

Missed anyone?
