So, I've never been to a WhiskyLive before. It appears from the website for the LA event that on top of the cover price, you have to pay for vouchers to taste samples. Is that right?

Hey Sku. Yes, WhiskyLive works on a voucher system. You get 6 vouchers with a ticket, 10 with VIP. My understanding is that some samples require 2 vouchers, others 1 (folks who've been to WhiskyLives in other cities please chime in here, this is my first WL as well). You can buy extra vouchers for $2/ea, and I've been told that most folks end up spending another $20 or so.

The voucher system is supposed to encourage responsible drinking. I know there's been some debate here in the past as to whether it really does that, and as to what extent the system is a nuisance.

drive home and try to rest up for

WhiskyLive on the 20th!!

It was a fabulous night at WL LA and was great to meet some more of the forum folk.

I sampled 28 whiskies. Highlights included some great new stuff from Scott's, Yamazaki's offering of the elements that go into both their malts and Hibeki and a chance to chat with lots of very knowledgable brand ambassadors.

The Maker's and HP masterclasses were both fantastic. Maker's offers a chance to taste their new make, one year old and nine year old along with the standard stuff. And the HP brand amabassador, his name escapes me, was hilarious; it was whiskey class meets stand up comedy.

Thanks to all at WM who made it possible, and I look forward to more LA area events in the future.

I too had a very good time last night. I posted what to me were the highlights of the evening over on "What did you drink last night".

I thought I would make another comment. While Whisky Live was a fair bit smaller than Whisky Fest, it was also not nearly as crowded. The pace of the evening was very good...less frantic than other events I've attended.

Food was very good and there was plenty for all.

I hope that Whisky Live LA continues and grows through the years.
