Laphroaig 25 yo Cask Strength

Tasted yesterday. Just about the best whisky I have tried (I really don't like when people say that, but this time it's true). It beats the old 30 yo.

Interesting that it's peat and not smoke that carries the day in this instance. Is it just possible that more malt from the on-site maltings was incorporated into this release?

Any which way, sounds stupendous.

I tried this one about two weeks ago.
The first thing that surprised me was the dry and fruity sherry. which is quite flawless. Besides that I found notes of sea mayweed, peat and a balsam-like kind of quality that I never found in young malts.
I agree that there is fresh peat but no smoke or ashes.
In the mouth this one is quite astringent.
I agree that it's really good but it is also quite different than other Laphroaigs.
I think this one really is for you if you like your malt dry, fruity and unobtrusive peaty.
