How big a dram do you pour?

When at home pouring for yourself how many milli-litres do you typically pour? Of course the dram and moment will make a difference. If you don't do metric then a typical bottle in the UK holds 28 drams for most Scottish pub measures. In the US the bottle size gives 30 drams. So on average do you get more than this (I doubt it) or how much less? Do your dram sizes differ significantly? Are you too frightened to work it out?

Only curious. Definetly not worried about my own consumption. Honest.

I usually pour about 50ml unless it is a bottle I won't be replacing easily, then it is about 25ml.

For me its random...It depends on the bottle (price and availability), the time I have to sit and enjoy the whisky...the companionship I'm with, and perhaps the mood I'm in...so I drink from 5cl drams to a whole bottle of 21 years old Glenfarglas with a good friend (whom became father that day).

I usually pour small glasses if I plan on having multiple malts in an evening, though if it is just one or two for a night I will pour a larger dram.

Normally alot smaller then the one I have right now.... but what was left in the bottle looked so lonely, that I felt it needed to get added to the glass.

most bottles i have say you will get 28 standard drinks from the bottle? I don't know what they think a standard drink is? but i only got 15 drinks from it! :shock:

I've become quite adept at pouring a 25ml measure, so it's usually that. I try not to pour anything much larger if I can help it, exceptions being if there's only a tiny amount left in a bottle - then it all goes in - or if I just want a larger measure, which seems to happen from time to time...

I'll pour a big slug on the odd day when I just feel like one dram but mostly I pour small so I can enjoy many different whiskies in one night without the after effects.

I'm so inconsistent. Anywhere from 10 to 70 ml, depending upon the moment and the whisky.
