Suntory Yamazaki 1993 / Peated Malt / Cask #70047

Hi there,
I bought this bottle for a friend. Any comments if this is good?

I am confused on the rating it got from the Whisky Bible
Some bottles (I think 1992) got an amazing 95%
Some 1993 bottles (cask 70048, got 88% and not as a warm review as the 1992 bottle)
The one I got is bottled in 1993 but the cask number is 70047

Any help welcome

Both 3Q70047 and 3Q70048 are 1993 bottlings. In fact to my knowledge all bottles of The Cask of Yamazaki Heavily Peated are 1993 Vintage, just from different casks.

3Q70047scored 95 in the whisky bible, 3Q70048 scored 89.

3Q70048 though, also scored 91 by Serge at whisky fun. you should check out that review as well.

I have tried 3Q70040 in japan and it was a knockout. Amazing stuff and I'd score it 94-95.

I also have two bottles of 3Q70047 on order and with any luck will arrive today.

Thanks for the clarification. I just could not understand this big difference from cask to cask (95% to 89%)
Anyway I am sure my friend will enjoy it as it seems to be a great single malt!
