Macallan 1985 18 yr

I have a friend who has a Macallan 1985 / 18 Year old / Vintage Label for sale and I can't not seem to find any information about this bottling. It looks like the twin to the Macallan 1984 / 18 Year old / Vintage Label bottling. Has anyone tried this or have any information on it.

There was a bottle of this waiting in my room at the 2004 Macallan tasting weekend at Turnberry in Ayrshire, Scotland - the trip was a gift from my then girlfriend, now wife.

I ripped it open like undressing a new lover! Absolutely delicious! If you are a fan of sherried Macs this is one of the best IMO. I had the 1984 , '85. 86... the 85 was possibly the best of a great trio. It was also twice as expensive as the 84, as it went up from £40 something to £70 something

I had a bottle of the '85 a few years ago. It is excellent quality and classic Macallan, but I never really cared for that extreme dry spice style from full Sherry matured whisky. I enjoyed it for what it is and moved on, so I can't compare to any other vintage.

Did the 1985 release come with a box or tube? I found one recently and it had no packaging, so wasn't sure if the store ditched it or what?

Thanks guys for the info. I had to pick it up and try it and of course with no will power to stop drinking I picked up a second one for down the road. My friend had only 2 bottles, one with a tube the other without I really do not think the box made it taste any better.
I know that the 84 and 85 came with a tube but do not know about the 86.

The 80s bottlings are a full step behind the 70s bottlings. Now that isn't to say that the 1984-86 vintages are bad. 1990 is coming back to what the 1979 had to offer.
