Springbank 10 and 10 100 proof difference?

My wife and I both love Springbank 10 (first SMS my wife has loved) after having it on New Year's Eve. I am going to get another bottle and was looking at the 100 proof. It seems that there is more than just a difference of being bottle at 100 proof instead of 92 proof..but can someone tell me how else they differ?

If its the 57.5% 100 proof version its vatted from ex-bourbon casks only which shows up in the whisky as having a very delicious vanilla charatcer most of all

This 100 proof is my favourite Springbank by the way

There's also an american version out at 50% afaik that does contain ex-sherry casks, so these two are not similar

I had the 100 proof last year and I wasn't really impressed. You can tell straight away it's been matured in bourbon casks but it didn't appeal to me. But hey, that's just me.

The Springbank 10yo 100 proof we got in the U.S. is 50% abv. Only 4% or 8 proof over the 46% regular 10yo, although it feels like more in the glass. That said, the price is only a few dollars more around here, so yes, it is worth trying and has a little more oomph and flavor. It still has the bitter, salty finish I found in the regular 10yo that I had a hard time getting past. I wish we were getting more of the new releases, but they are slow showing up.

Somewhere on here this topic has come up before. I posted my thoughts there about the 10, 10 100 proof US, and 10 100 proof UK. I tried all of these about 2 years ago head to head. My preference was UK, US, 10. They are all good but not as good as Springbank on the shelf back in the 90s. The UK had more intense wood spices (which is my preference).

Wow, I didn't know they were that different. Some day I'll get a hold of the UK bottling.

I will have to admit it is approx 5yrs since some one here in Denmark gave me a sip of the American version, I don't know what it is in its present state !.
