1st Brighton Whisky Festival - March 20th 2010

Postby Eddie Ludlow » Tue Mar 02, 2010 1:02 pm

Hi All,

After the successes of our Newcastle, Manchester and York events last year, we have been casting the net for further venues and have found Brighton to have massive potential.
We have further festivals (6 in total) this year and are confident that these will keep even the most ardent whisky fan happy!
Brighton was announced to our exhibitor friends fairly late in the day, so there are perhaps not quite the same number as there will be at the 'bigger' festivals, later in the year. However, there are still a good number of high quality distillers and distributors and I have been very pleased with the response.
Details...

The 1st Brighton Whisky Lounge Festival
Saturday March 20th 2010
The Hilton Brighton Metropole
12pm - 6pm
£16 per ticket
(includes free Glencairn glass, festival guide and all your drams - within reason!)

Exhibitors confirmed...

Berry Brothers
Balvenie
Dalmore, Isle of Jura
Diageo
Four Roses Bourbon
Cutty Sark
Ardbeg, Glenmorangie
Amrut
Benromach, Gordon and MacPhail
St. Georges Distillery
Compass Box
Arran
Glenlivet, Chivas Regal
Springbank, Longrow, Hazelburn, Kilkerran

There are two masterclasses running during the day...

1pm-2.30pm
The Balvenie - with Dr. Andrew Forrester

3.30pm-5pm
The Malt Whisky Flavour Map - with Colin Dunn

Each masterclass is just an additional £5.
For further details and to book tickets please visit our website at http://www.thewhiskylounge.com/events.aspx. Our festival is a part of the Brighton and Hove Food and Drink Festival Spring Harvest - details of which can be found here - http://www.brightonspringharvest.com/Home

Hope to see many of you there!

Slainte,
Eddie

Hello! - I am a new member and have not been to a festival event yet, but am keen to get to one and this one is in striking range. I can leave my wife in the lanes whilst I can try one or two small samples. Think we'll take the train.

Enjoy, Eddies events are always excellent. I would have gone myself if it was not so far away!

Wow - What a great day.

I had loads of fun and plenty of tastings:

Glenkinchie
Dalwhinnie

then

Scapa
Logmorn

then

Balvenie" "signature"
Balvenie 15y.o.

then:

Masterclass with Diageo and a very amusing Colin Dunn.

Talisker, Caol Ila, Lagavulin (2 expressions of each.)

Then

Springbank

Then

Arran 14y.o,

Then

Gordon & McPhail Mortlach 15y.o

Benromach

Strathisla 30 y.o.

Then

Ardbeg Ugeidal

I also tried a grain whisky from "Compass Box"

I had plenty of water and rest!!!!

Phew! and by a miracle didn't feel too bad at all.

Spoke to many new friends and enjoyed the company.

I bought a few bottles from Eddie (which I suppose is what it is all about.)

So looking forward to the next event.

Thanks Whisky lounge for a very relaxing and enjoyable afternoon out.

Got to this one. What a great day. Had a better time than the recent whisky live. Both good, but this one was more local. I hope this is a taste of things to come. Eddie, keep coming back. Well organised and a good selection.
Thumbs up from me.
