ARDBEG CORRYVRECKAN vs ANB vs UIGEADAIL

Postby titus » Sun Dec 05, 2010 4:20 am

Ladies and Gentlemen,

Out of the abovementioned choices i was wondering which of these would be the most intense in smokiness and punch. Essentially i'm after something that is intensely firey with plumes of oily smoke that fills the mouth.

Any suggestions?

My order from most to least would be

1. Corry
2. Ugieadail
3. Beist

Corry is the hands down winner for me with the Uigeadail also have some nice smoke and tar. The Beist is a distant 3rd.

Based on what your looking for, I would agree. However, I much prefer the "brightness" of the ANB as the citrus and melons provide a wonderful counterbalance to the oily-diesel character.

Well, if we are talking my prefered it would be Oogie followed by ANB (some Oogies isnt as good as the few ANB's I have tried)

Then I wull have corry on an honorable third place

Maybe we should carry out a scientific study ?

If this is what you are looking for, why not going for the TEN?

I'd go for the Corry, but why not try a Supernova?

As you are looking for intense punchy peat I would also suggest the Supernova 2010 but the Corryvreckan should also fulllfil your needs.

The Oogy for me

The Corry is much saltier, seaweedy even, and lacks to my taste the smoothness of the Oogy. Granted the Oogy is sweeter - but it is so balanced, and still has the peat and smoke of Ardbeg, that it doesnt SEEM sweet. Both are huge whiskies. Why not get both?!

When it first came out, I would have put the Corry at the top of this list. However, i've had a recent love affair with oogie again, and i think i prefer it over the Corry (though the corry is an excellent Ardbeg!).

I've never been that impressed with the ANB: after all the hype, it always kind of let me down. Nice whisky, but nothing special...
