SECOND RELEASE FOR BALBLAIR 1975 VINTAGE

Postby AmandaWhaymand » Thu Jul 12, 2012 11:58 am

International Beverage Holdings is delighted to unveil the second release of the 1975 Vintage of Balblair Highland Single Malt Scotch Whisky. It replaces the 1978 as the oldest and most prestigious Vintage in the core range.

It is the first time a Vintage has enjoyed a second release but with a distinctly different liquid style from the original; whereas the first release was laid down in Spanish oak ex-sherry casks, the second release is aged in American oak ex-sherry casks.

This expression is non-chill-filtered, naturally coloured and bottled at 46%. Coupled with traditional production methods, this policy results in a single malt of rare quality.

The second release of Balblair 1975 is a rich gold colour. Typically fresh, yet full-bodied, this fine single malt displays aromas of citrus fruits, vanilla, toffee and coconut. Extended maturation in American oak, ex-sherry casks has imparted a rich, sweet, vanilla flavour. On the palate it is sweet and spicy; fresh fruits and honey combine with a slightly oaky note to create a long and warming finish.

Distillery Manager John MacDonald observes of his latest selection: "The 1978 Vintage is a very hard act to follow but I am confident that this American oak-driven expression will be well-received by single malt enthusiasts the world over."

According to Andy Hannah, Brand Manager: "Balblair has become established as a favourite of discerning whisky drinkers worldwide. As well as being the only distillery solely releasing vintage malts, the contemporary packaging design sets it apart. The 1975 perfectly illustrates our philosophy of 'Vintages Timed to Perfection' which will be activated in key markets later this year."

This is the first time a Vintage of this age has been bottled for the US market, a reflection of the continuing development of Balblair in the world's biggest premium spirits market and the demand for top-end expressions in particular.

Balblair 1975 Vintage is available at £235.00.
