The Loch Fyne Whisky Bar returns to Inveraray Castle for the second Best of the West Festival in mid-September. Originally created for the Connect music festival, the whisky bar seeks to encourage all people to consider re-tasting whisky - hence the bar's motto 'once in a while' - from the song by The Doors.
The bar will feature all 20 distilleries of the west of Scotland and many representatives, owners, and managers will be on hand to pour and discuss your dram. Whisky fans can pay-as-you-go or buy an all-day tasting ticket that lets you graze and sample the entire selection on offer for a single reasonable payment (last year it was £12).
With the magnificent backdrop of Inveraray castle, the BoW Festival is also a family-friendly event highlighting the best in food, drink, craft, music and entertainment from the West of Scotland. With 15 bands booked, the music will range from traditional to modern with local pipe bands and world-famous headline acts Skerryvore (Saturday 15th) and the Red Hot Chilli Pipers (Sunday 16th).
The Food from Argyll Team providing local food to eat, sample and take home will include Inverawe Smokehouse, Loch Fyne Oysters and Fyne Ales. Exhibitors will include tweed, pottery, jewellery, art and crafts.
Entertainments include the enthralling Drakes of Hazard, a climbing wall and children's workshops making this a great family day out, also featuring horse riding, archery, survival skills, golf, fishing and much more.
