Postby AmandaWhaymand » Thu Dec 20, 2012 11:54 am

The Spirit of Speyside Whisky Festival goes from strength to strength with the announcement today (Wednesday 19 December 2012) that the Tamdhu Distillery, owned by Ian Macleod Distillers, has announced it is a Gold sponsor for 2013.

Festival Chairman James Campbell commented, “We are delighted with the very generous offer of sponsorship from Tamdhu. Working with the team from Ian Macleod Distillers over the past months to secure their sponsorship has been exciting and I know that they will bring a great deal to the festival. Tamdhu are already planning their programme of events for 2013 and we are all very keen to play our part in helping them have a very successful festival.

James Campbell added: “New supporters to the festival are always welcome and it is particularly good to see one of Speyside's most respected Distilleries back in production. I am sure Tamdhu will add to the positive message we have been hearing from all over Speyside this year, as many of our famous names have stepped up production or planned to increase capacity to cope with the amazing levels of demand for Speyside malt whisky worldwide.”

Iain Weir, Marketing Director for Ian Macleod Distillers, said: “We are proud to support the Spirit of Speyside Whisky Festival, it’s the perfect platform for the re-launch of Tamdhu Speyside Single Malt Scotch Whisky.

Iain continued: “Tamdhu was one of the first Speyside distilleries and is quite unique. Built by a consortium of local entrepreneurs in 1897 on the banks of the River Spey, Tamdhu represents one of the most cutting edge distilleries of its time and this fine premium malt embodies the real spirit of entrepreneurialism and innovation.

“Since we took over the Distillery two years ago, we’ve invested significantly in the malt, the brand and redesigned the packaging with a focus on quality and provenance and we’re excited to introduce Tamdhu to whisky enthusiasts from around the world.”

Now in its 14th year, the Festival hosted over 28,500 visits to more than 320 events over five days. The 2012 festival generated over £1.3 million to the local economy. The dates for the 2013 festival are 2 – 6th May inclusive. For more information, please visit http://www.spiritofspeyside.com.
