Cadenheads new release tasting 21.2.13 Edinburgh

It seems the new releases will be with us next Wednesday so in good time to include the drams in the next tasting.

So until we can appraise the drams and finalise the line-up here is a sketch of the possiblities.


Glenlivet 24yo 1988 claret cask 51.5%
or
Clynelish 17yo 1995 sherry butt 58.0%
or
Royal Brackla 20yo 1992 sherry cask 52.4%
or
Tullibardine 19yo 1993 Chateau Lafitte cask 48.3%

Caperdonich 16yo 1996 Bourbon cask 51.5%

Glengarioch 21yo 1991 53.7% Bourbon cask
or
Bruichladdich 19yo 1993 51.2% Bourbon cask

Teaninich 19yo 1993 53.7% Bourbon cask
or
Tomatin 18yo 1994 54.1% Bourbon cask

Bowmore 12yo 2000 Bourbon cask 59.6% (although there are two casks to choose from)

Having given the new releases the once over there appeared some stronger propositions so we'll all but finalise the line up as:-

Tomatin 18yo 1994 - February 2013 54.1% Bourbon hogshead 214 bottles
(the Teaninich 19yo and Bruichladdich would have been worthy alternatives)

Glenlivet 24yo 1988 - February 2013 claret cask 53.9% 258 bottles

Clynelish 17yo 1995 - February 2013 sherry cask 58.0% 540 bottles

Royal Brackla 20yo 1992 - February 2013 sherry cask 52.4% 180 bottles

Bowmore 12yo 2000 - February 2013 Bourbon barrel 59.6% 216 bottles
(although it was too close to call between the casks)

So one for lovers of the sherry style but don't panic if that isn't your thing as none of them are heavy handed.
