Matt, is the Glenlivet 1972 the older Vintage 1972 as opposed to the newer Cellar Collection 1972? Or an IB maybe?

With a bit of fiddling you could add shelving in between the existing unit and the wall as seen on the right hand side. The books glasses etc could be moved to these new shelves allowing for more room for single malts!

Hi Jobi, it is the Cellar Collection IB, one of my favourites. Trying to save it for a special occassion but it will soon be :dead:

Thats an idea Lawrence, but as no wall in my flat is straight or flat it would be a real pain...may expand it upwards to accomodate a few more bottles.

It was nice to sit down and admire my DIY with a dram after a day of hard labour and screwing :o :D

IWC Thanks for showing your open bottles. I expected to see a lot of QC though. I bet the unopened section is a big stash. Is Mrs IWC like Mrs Les and you have to keep them out of the way a bit.

Nice balance of bottles Mr Fjeld. That does look a happy bear.

Thanks for showing guys.

Quick question as I've never seen it before ...

but what is the 'Queen of the Moorlands' as I see you have a few distilleries under that name ???

Thanks for your comments guys,
I started the collection in university in the late 90's with standard bottles but have really only started collecting in ernest in the past 9 months. I get many of my bottles from "The Wine Shop" in Leek, Staffordshire. Great little place with a brilliant range of own bottlings (Queen of the Moorlands).

Really I want to concentrate my efforts on the Bunna limited editions and laphroaigs. That is mainly due to a recent trip to Islay which we really enjoyed.

Well you certianly have a collection there :o

I presume by their condition that these are displayed in a pub or home bar.

Some interesting bottles there but the condition is not great ... alot of smoke discolouration which is a pity.

Nice collection Tricky. If you open an account with PhotoBucket ( which is free ) you will be able to manage your pictures easier. You will be able to edit them and post here very easily.

A quick bit of research can reveal so values from the Whiskey Exchange website....

Single Malts

Aberlour Glenlivet 9yo £169.00
Auchentoshan 12yo £235.00
Balvenie £149.00
Cardhu £275.00
Springbank 12yo £220.00
Tamnavulin Glenlivet 8yo £150.00
Tomintoul £69.00

Decanters

Abbot’s Choice £139.00
Chequers £75.00
QE2 £95.00
Royal Salute £89.00
Springbank 12yo £150.00

Blends

Johnnie Walker Swing £125.00

However these are retail prices and you will very unlikely realise these prices at auction and I would therefore deduct about 20% off the above values to use as realistic values.

But that is not bad for a start really

Tricky T, what is it an underground bunker, you worried about someone finding out about your stash?

This is why they have to go no room for them on shelves.
They were all together once behind one big bar, But we changed it all around and made two smaller bars off one cellar but ended up with less room for bottles.
The ones that are crammed in together are all the malts we separated from the blends. Gonna give e`m a good clean this week then take more photo`s. Then send them to Martin Greene/Mctears for valuation I hope !

hi Les

There are so many good ones... but if my house would burn an I could save just 10 bottles, it would be those:

Benriach, Duncan Taylor - Rare Auld, 1968-2006, 37y
Bowmore, Duncan Tylor - Peerless, 1966 - 2006, 40y
Bowmore, Signatory Cask Strength Collection, 1970-2005, 34y
Brora, 1974-2004, 30y
Bruichladdich, JWWW - Renzlow Portfolio Collection, 1966 - ~2001, 35y
Glen Grant, Duncan Taylor - Peerless, 1970 - 2002, 32y
Isle of Jura, The Stillman's Dram, 27y
Port Ellen, 1st Release, 1979-2001, 22y
Strathisla, Exclusive Malts, 1976 - 2006, 30y
Tamdhu, Duncan Taylor - Peerless, 1967 - 2001, 34y

But this would be one of the hardest desicion of my life :!: - let's hope not to get in such a situation.

Future favorites will be:

- Laphroaig 30y
- Bunnahabhain 34y

i've just tasted them, and they are awesome! - a must have

Regards

Bruno
