Out of curiosity, I tried a CC North Port 1974 in the Pot Still last night. I hadn't expected to like it, presuming it would be hot firewater with a spirity, bitter finish. Nevertheless, I thought I might as well taste it while I still can.
I was very pleasantly surprised. The whisky had a delicate cakey aroma (a bit like Christmas cake rather than a sherry drenched offering) and a flowery, fruity flavour. The finish was very long. Was I being seduced by a rare closed distillery, or have others had good experiences of North Port?
